Da Vinci’s lifelong motivation was to learn from nature. He said: “Though human ingenuity may make various inventions which, by the help of various machines answering the same end, it will never devise any inventions more beautiful, nor more simple, nor more to the purpose than Nature does”.
In his early years he studied painting and sculpture with one of the most important sculptors in Florence. First, Da Vinci made artworks of religious nature. A few years after graduation, he became the court painter of the mighty Milanese dynasty of the Sforza. His career as a painter, sculptor, architect, scientist, and philosopher run its course.
