In this article, we show you tips and tricks for oil painting. What makes oil painting so fascinating is the intensive painting result given by the high opacity and luminosity of the oil paint. Oil paintings look soft and slightly shiny. This is exactly the effect that makes the work so special and why it is so beautiful to paint with oil.

Oil Painting: the quality of oil paints is very important!

The result of your oil paintings is of course also dependent on the quality of the oil paints. We recommend you use oil paints of good quality and at least in the execution studio quality, even better if in the artist quality. Even if you may at first think that they are too expensive, you only use a small amount of it to paint, so you´ll have high-quality oil paints for a long time that we´ll enable you to create stunning artworks. So, don’t save in the wrong place!

What do I need?

You need:

• an easel
• a canvas (best made of linen)
• oil paints
• brushes in different sizes (both bristle and round hairbrushes)
• color palette
• spatula
• medium (turpentine or mineral spirits)

How do I start?
